Tractable Triangles

چکیده
We study the computational complexity of binary valued constraint satisfaction problems (VCSP) given by allowing only certain types of costs in every triangle of variable-value assignments to three distinct variables. We show that for several computational problems, including CSP, Max-CSP, finite-valued VCSP, and general-valued VCSP, the only non-trivial tractable classes are the well known maximum matching problem and the recently discovered joint-winner property [9].

Similar Triangles, Another Trace of the Golden Ratio
In this paper we investigate similar triangles which are not congruent but have two pair congruent sides. We show that greatest lower bound of values for similarity ratio of such triangles is golden ratio. For right triangles, we prove that the supremum of values for similarity ratio is the square root of the golden ratio.
متن کاملPacking Edge Disjoint Triangles: A Parameterized View
The problem of packing k edge-disjoint triangles in a graph has been thoroughly studied both in the classical complexity and the approximation fields and it has a wide range of applications in many areas, especially computational biology [BP96]. In this paper we present an analysis of the problem from a parameterized complexity viewpoint. We describe a fixed-parameter tractable algorithm for th...

متن کاملParameterized Complexity of Neighborhood Problems in Graphs with no Small Cycles
We show that several problems that are hard for various parameterized complexity classes on general graphs, become fixed parameter tractable on graphs with no small cycles. More specifically, we give fixed parameter algorithms for Dominating Set, t-Vertex Cover (where we need to cover at least t edges) and several of their variants on graphs that have no triangles or cycles of length 4. These p...
متن کاملOn Tensor Product of Graphs, Girth and Triangles
The purpose of this paper is to obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the tensor product of two or more graphs to be connected, bipartite or eulerian. Also, we present a characterization of the duplicate graph $G 1 K_2$ to be unicyclic. Finally, the girth and the formula for computing the number of triangles in the tensor product of graphs are worked out.
